Ronaldo score and see red as Real Madrid beat Barcelona in Supercopa
Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3-1 in Sunday's Supercopa first leg at Camp Nou, but Cristiano Ronaldo will miss second after scoring and see a red card.
The Portuguese star was named as a substitute for the second game running as Madrid stuck with a 4-3-1-2 formation and Isco in the hole.
Luis Suarez’s early half-volley kept Keylor Navas on his toes, before Isco’s angled drive from the left hit Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s side-netting after he gave Vidal the run-around.
Dani Carvajal then came to Los Blancos’ rescue as he came across from out of nowhere to dispossess Suarez in a one-on-one with Keylor before he could pull the trigger.
Gareth Bale had only scored one goal in seven Clasicos, and he was close to adding to his tally when he drove the ball on target in the Catalans’ box, only for Ter Stegen to tip his effort over.
