Man United transfer target persuaded to fight for Madrid first-team place

Raphael Varane, who have allen out of favour under failed to make his first team squad in 2016/17 season, has been linked with a move to Manchester United to reunite with former boss Jose Mourinho.

However, according to Marca, Real boss Zinedine Zidane has held talks with the France international and persuaded him to improve and fight for his place in the starting XI.

The 24-year-old started at the centre-back in 4-1 win over Juventus in the Champions League final, and seems likely to replace veteran defender Pepe next season.
