Real Madrid tried shock move for Barcelona Lionel Messi

According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid tried to sign Barcelona star Lionel Messi last season but were rejected for the third time.

The report says Madrid made three attempts to land the Argentina international in 2011, 2013 and last summer.

Los Blancos President Florentino Perez also said “the best players in the world must always play” for his club, with the newspaper attributing that quote to the 30-year-old.
